Theme installation

I installed the default Magento Setup. I have a Hello mini theme which I wanted to add to my default setup.

I copied the App, skin and media folder of the hello mini theme and replaced the default ones.

Now, when I try to login to the admin page, it redirects me to the downloader page. Why does this happen and how do I go about it?

Hmmm I don’t see how it could be related to simply uploading a Magento theme but I’m not familiar with the specific theme you mentioned.

I’m assuming you made sure to completely refresh Magento cache and sessions, right?

Yeah! The cache was all cleared. I got the source of this issue. Thanks a lot though

So, in Windows, then you replace the App folder, only the duplicate contents INSIDE the App folder gets replaced and some additional files are added.

However, if you try that on a unix system (OS X): It replaces the App folder. It’s like deleting the App folder and creating a new one. So, I lost the default /base contents.
